TxIS has been working with Eastern academia - universities, research institutes, their faculties, departments, leaders, professors and researchers - since 1996. Over the years, the Institute has gained a deep understanding of and high respect for how Eastern academia works, and the requirements they have.
Over the last several years TxIS has addressed the questions, comments and concerns voiced by members of academia throughout the Eastern world where TxIS is active.
ENGAGEMENT WITH ACADEMIA
- TxIS works based upon a Provider Service Agreement (PSA) signed by the appropriate university or faculty authority.
- The Institute understands limitations with regards to sensitive material, dual technology and national security. The PSA clearly defines those areas of the university that TxIS has unlimited access to.
- In areas authorized by the PSA, TxIS shall have direct access to the professors in order to include their scientific background in TxIS' Global Research Alliance.
- Project engagements with TxIS are signed by the department head, or dean of faculty.
PROFESSORS’ ADVANTAGES TO BEING PART OF TxIS’ GLOBAL RESEARCH ALLIANCE
- Receive world-class projects to work on.
- Generate income.
- Work with TxIS on global publication as a project result, subject to the client’s authorization.
- Receive TxIS’s assistance in receiving conference materials, conference participations, research materials and financing for ongoing technology research.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF TxIS’ GLOBAL RESEARCH ALLIANCE
- Professors who are within or close to TxIS’ research areas (please review: http://www.txis.us/txis/global/research/researchareas.aspx ) will be interviewed by TxIS’ regional Director of Field Development (DFD). The professor shall provide their entire scientific background to the DFD.
- To become a member of TxIS’ Global Research Alliance is free of charge.
- TxIS does not give the professor’s data to any third party, except TxIS’ client on a need-to-know basis, whether it is private or government. The Institute will not give information out for two reasons:
- First, information access is regulated in the PSA signed with the university, and
- Second, the stored data is TxIS’ only asset. To share this asset with anyone would run counter with TxIS’ own interest.
- PLEASE REMEMBER:
- The only professor that our search engine can recommend for a project is the professor who is in the Global Research Alliance. Should you desire to work on world-class programs, you need to become a member.
- o The more information TxIS has from the professor, the more chance there is that our search engine will bring the professor’s name up. It is not TxIS’, but the professor’s vital interest to include as much information as possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can you guarantee that if I give you my scientific background, you will not sell it to someone else?
A: Absolutely.
Q: Can you guarantee that if I give you my scientific background, you will send me projects?
A: We cannot guarantee it, but most certainly this is our objective because the more professors we involve, the more projects we are involved in. TxIS’ historical average is four professors per project. TxIS’ objective is to concurrently run 400 projects by 2012. At that time, we will involve 1,600-2,000 professors of the 45,000 we expect to have as Global Research Alliance members.
Q: So if you work with approximately 4%-6% of the professors, why would I want to give you my scientific background?
A: For two reasons: First, because you have nothing to lose by becoming a member of the Global Research Alliance, and second, because this is the only way we will involve you.
Q: What if I wish to update my information?
A: You can do it through our Director of Field Development, or directly with the Headquarters Database Group.
Q: What if I want you to delete my information?
A: Upon your request, we will delete your information and remove you from the Global Research Alliance within 24 hours.
