It is TxIS' objective to insure that its financing and overall support for IP development and commercial sale are efficiently diversified among participating universities so as to enable access to this program by as many professors/inventors as possible. The IP Submission process is set up to be completely confidential with regard to the inventor's identity and the specifics of the intellectual property under evaluation. TxIS's principle intention is to keep the inventor within the guidelines of all international Intellectual Property laws throughout the evaluation process so as not to preclude the ultimate patentability of their invention. In order to initiate evaluation of an IP, all that is required by TxIS is a functional description of the IP along with an explanation of its current state (e.g., How close it is to a the "proof of concept "stage?). Should you decide to submit your IP, please open and complete the IP Submission Form .doc document. Please forward this information to: submitip@txis.us.
After receipt and review of the initial submission form, TxIS will determine the next course of action. If further review and investigation is warranted, a Technology Assignment Agreement will need to be executed with the inventor(s). TxIS will also require the completion of a Technology and Viability Assessment form. It is possible that a provisional application will be filed on behalf of the inventor(s) by TxIS as a “first step” toward a patent filing. For complete information regarding the overall IP process flow, please refer to “The Way it Works” section. An IP purchase arrangement could result if all financial, business, technical, and legal requirements can be successfully addressed.
