TxIS has been working with Eastern academia - universities, research institutes, their faculties, departments, leaders, professors and researchers - since 1996. Over the years, the Institute has gained a deep understanding of and high respect for how Eastern academia works, and the requirements they have.
In addition, it is imperative to understand that 90% of TxIS' clients had more than $1 billion in revenue in 2008, and like most large organizations, the Institute's clients have their own set of requirements and structure as to how they deal with outside consulting forces. Therefore, one of TxIS' primary functions is to understand and synchronize the requirements of its clients and those of the engaged group who works on the project.
Over the last several years TxIS has addressed the questions, comments and concerns voiced by members of academia throughout the Eastern world where TxIS is active.
ENGAGEMENT WITH ACADEMIAFrequently Asked Questions
Q: Why don’t you just send us a project and we will assign professors who can work on it?
A: When TxIS receives a project, we need to respond to our client in three days, so our communications need to be as efficient as possible. We have no time to work through intermediaries such as the University’s Tech-Transfer Department.
Q: Throughout the project, we need you to communicate with the professors through our designated organization.
A: We cannot possibly do that. There is no logical reason to place an additional party between the client, TxIS and the professor. The project many times requires daily communication.
Q: Can you guarantee that you will at least copy our designated organization in all of your communication with the professor?
A: No. Servers can be down; email will not be received. TxIS does not wish to get into an argument with the university as to what TxIS did or did not send. Also, this particular problem has a logical solution: the university’s designated organization should agree with their own professor (who is employed by the university in the first place) to send requested information.
